Filling a GTM seat?Still make the hire.
This is the system that runs until they start.
The GTM seat takes a quarter to fill, and that's before anyone works a notice period. Pipeline doesn't pause for the search. It sits where it is and gets a little worse every week you spend interviewing.
What we do is the middle third of that job, fractionally. Marketing hands off to us, we build what carries a lead from there to a booked demo, and we stop at the demo. Your hire starts on something that already runs.
01 / The next quarter
Two versions of the same three months.
Hiring is the right call. It's the timing that's the problem, and the timing is the only thing on this page we're arguing with.
The search alone
The search, and a working system
- While you interview
The search alone
Nothing's being built. The list is the list. The sequences are the ones somebody set up last year.
The search, and a working system
The audit's done, the architecture is written down, and the first campaigns are running against real replies.
- The day your hire starts
The search alone
A stack of logins, an empty workspace, and a quarter of their own before anything ships.
The search, and a working system
A working engine, and the document that explains every decision inside it.
- If the hire falls through
The search alone
Back to the top of the search with nothing to show for the quarter.
The search, and a working system
The system keeps running. You reopen the search from a better position.
02 / What gets built
What's actually standing at the end of it.
Three to six months is the window, and it ends with a system rather than a report. The pipeline runs in this order, and every stage has a gate on it.
- Company sourcing
- Where accounts come from, and what disqualifies one before a credit gets spent on it.
- ICP qualification
- The gate, set on a column that's actually reliable at that point in the flow.
- Contact enrichment
- Waterfall order, cost per row, and the rule for when a row is good enough to send to.
- Sequencing
- Messages, branches, and the exit conditions that pull someone out of a campaign the moment they reply.
- Reporting
- Which lever moved which number. That's the part that decides what gets built next.

03 / The handover
The knowledge base goes up before the system does.
The first thing we build is the documentation, not a handover deck written in the last week. What got built, why it got built that way, and the rules underneath it. It goes up as the work goes up.
Writing the thing and writing down how the thing works are two different skills, and the second one is rarer. We watched that cost teams years when we were still writing software. So the person you hire reads the system instead of asking us about it, and if we disappear tomorrow somebody else picks it up and keeps going.
04 / The edges
The GTM lane
We do the middle third. After marketing's done, before a rep starts pushing a demo. That's the part that's usually missing and it's the part we're good at.
Your marketing team keeps the marketing side. Once a demo's booked it goes to your rep. Being narrow is the reason this works inside a quarter instead of next year.
05 / Not for
Three reasons this isn't a good fit
- You want it finished in three weeks
- The first month is us finding out what your data actually says. Judge the build after that, not during it.
- You'd rather we guess than say the plan
- We don't need every step, we need the intent. Big picture, what you've got, where the gap is, and we'll go build it.
- A clarifying question reads as a failure
- We'll ask what we need to ask before we push the wrong data at your list. If that lands as us not knowing the job, both sides will be tired of it by week two.
06 / The ask
Worth twenty minutes, while the search is still open?
One intro call to work out whether the GTM seat you're filling is the same job we do, because sometimes it isn't. Tell us where the pipeline problem actually sits and you'll get a straight answer on whether this is worth a second conversation.
Booking for something else? Book anyway and say so, or use cal.com/mamba/quick-intro for the general calendar.
Rather write it than book a call?
Then write it. It reaches us directly and we answer within a day.
